Sale price$200.00

Dewitt & Davenport, NY, 1848. 8vo, cloth, 2 plates, 416 p. Condition: Good. Scattered light foxing and mild browning, some pages dogeared, very occasionally a small contemporary ink mark in the margin; faint contemporary owner's stamp on fly and first blank; spine ends and tips worn, mild abrasion to spine. Howes 192. Originally issued as "Oneota, or the Red Race of America" in 8 parts in 1844-45, later appearing under different permutations of the title of which this is one (i.e. a book with this title is NOT a first edition, despite what other dealers might say). Still, it is a bit scarce.
