Endpapers lightly spotted and with previous owner's signatures, light foxing to the margins of some plates, minor offsetting to color plates. Lacking plate of Chinese Temple at Macao (vol. 1 p. 144) and first two of the ichthyology plates; spine of vol. 2 a little dull compared to the others. Bindings clean and sound, with no cracked hinges or joints, an uncommonly nice copy. Sabin 30958 for the first edition. Dark brown cloth. Large 4to: xviii, 537 + 88 (of 89) plates and 6 charts; [iv] 418 +41 (of 43) plates and 17 charts (2 and 3 are on the same sheet); [xliii] 705, including within the pagination 351 zodiacal plates 2nd edition (this is the Senate Report; the House Report came first).
